Today I went to an introductory class on horse hair (crin) weaving (or micro-basketry), an original craft from the village of Rari, Chile. These were some of the samples displayed there (I won't show my dishevelled attempt!) Only white hair is dyed in colours – the rest is used in their natural shades.

I love this so much!!
Que delicados y encantadores trabajos en crin. Acá en el norte se ve muy poco o nada de esa técnica y material.
Saludos cariñosos
Oh wow! I would love to learn how to work with crin! Wish I could take a class in New York!
Marchi – These are so lovely. My favourite is the lady in blue with the red hat. The crafter said she took three days to make it!
Kena – Son preciosos, pero casi me quedo ciega! El tejido es demasiado diminuto.
Oye, se había perdido tu blog!!
k – I don't know if there are any crin classes in NY but you could ask in the Puro Chile store...
crin?! really gorgeous work!!
wowowowow! beautiful! i've never heard of crin, thanks for the gorgeous introduction.
Beautiful and amazing detail! Thanks so much for sharing, I had never heard of it before :)
alucino con las manos tan finas que hay que tener para poder trenzar esto! mi profe de yoga que es chilena me trajo una mariposita para el pelo hecha con esta técnica : )
Oh my, what a delight to learn about crin!
As your classes and practice progress, please do show us some of your crin work.
It is fascinating to see a traditional skill being used with a contemporary twist.
Best wishes.
hahaha, thought you made these :-)
but with some exercise...
