A for Amster

I'm just starting my summer embroidery project. An alphabet made of the ornamented initials of Amster typeface. The font was designed by super talented Chilean typographer Francisco Gálvez and it's a tribute to Mauricio Amster, designer of great influence in Chile and Spain during the XX century. Each initial is inspired by the engravings of the lira popular (literal: popular lyre) or “string literature”, a series of popular poetry publications (if you've ever been to Liguria in Santiago, you've probably seen the pictures of the menus.)

Estoy recién comenzando mi proyecto de bordado de verano. Un abecedario hecho de las capitulares adornadas de la tipografía Amster. La fuente fue diseñada por el súper talentoso tipógrafo chileno Francisco Gálvez y es un tributo a Mauricio Amster, diseñador de gran influencia en Chile y España durante el siglo XX. Cada capitular está inspirada en los grabados de la lira popular, una serie de publicaciones de poesía popular (si han pasado por el Liguria en Santiago, seguro han visto las imágenes de los menús).
